e-Capacity
Management System - eCMS
This project was commissioned by Surrey Ambulance Service NHS Trust. It is now
in use in both Surrey and the Thames Valley where it is run by
the Oxfordshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
The system is used by hospital administrators and capacity managers to record
and monitor the work load at all the main NHS Trust hospital sites in each
area. A complex algorithm combines a large number of pieces of data measuring
the workload to give an overall score for each hospital.
The geographical spread of all its users who are based in many different
hospital and ambulance units naturally lead to a web based solution.

Updates made by hospital staff 24/7 365 days of the year.
Users allocated permissions to each page and each field within a page.
Calculations performed real-time and shown on a colour keyed scoring page.
All system access and updates audited.
Technicalities

The system was written in C# and ASP.Net
The backend database is SQLserver 2000.
