Care Home
Vacancy Information System - VIS
The VIS system is principally used by social services staff working for local
authorities who need to place discharged hospital patients into a care home.
There is a new government initiative to ensure that patients who are fit to
leave hospital do so promptly and this system permits social services staff to
search for suitable care home vacancies to ensure that this happens. Currently
the system has details on over 1300 care homes. The system is also available to
members of the public.
VISION is currently used by the 4 local authorities in Avon,
North Somerset Council,
Bath & North East Somerset Council,
Bristol City Council, and
South Gloucestershire District Council and also by
Oxfordshire County Council and Surrey County Council
Key Features
Home managers update their own home and vacancy details.
A user can search by a wide range of criteria, including type of home,
facilities available, client types accepted, location and price.
Users can save the details of a search and view these at a later date.
Where no suitable vacancy is available a user can be emailed by the system when
one occurs at a chosen home.
Virtual tours of many of the homes are available.
